Viable News Team A simple delivery mistake has allegedly landed a suspected drug dealer in police custody after a parcel sent to the wrong address led investigators straight to him.
Northern Cape police say a courier parcel was accidentally delivered to the wrong address at a business in Kimberley on Thursday, 3 September 2026.
But what looked like a delivery error quickly turned into a police operation.
Members of the Northern Cape Provincial Organised Crime Unit reportedly arranged a controlled delivery, with a police officer posing as an agent to hand over the parcel.
Police then contacted the intended recipient.
When the suspect arrived to collect the package, officers moved in and arrested him.
A search of the parcel allegedly uncovered Tik and 300 Mandrax tablets, concealed inside a plastic bag.
Police also seized a cellphone and a substantial amount of cash, which investigators believe may be linked to alleged drug dealing.
The drugs seized are estimated to have a street value of approximately R195,000.
The suspect, a 48-year-old foreign national, is facing a charge of dealing in drugs.
He is expected to appear before the Kimberley Magistrates’ Court, where he will have an opportunity to respond to the allegations.
