“HELP HIM!” LEARNER ATTACKED WHILE CLASSMATES FILM THE HORRIFYING MOMENT

A disturbing video circulating on social media has sparked outrage after a learner was allegedly beaten by a fellow pupil while other learners reportedly stood nearby and filmed the incident on their cellphones.
Instead of stepping in.
Instead of calling a teacher.
Instead of getting help.
Some allegedly chose to record.
The footage has reignited serious concerns about bullying, violence and the disturbing culture of recording school fights for social media.
And the trauma doesn’t necessarily end when the beating stops.
Once that video is shared online, the victim can be forced to relive the humiliation again and again as the footage spreads from phone to phone.
A similar incident recently made headlines at Eastwood Secondary School in Pietermaritzburg, where footage showed a learner being cornered and assaulted. The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education condemned the incident and confirmed that disciplinary action was being taken against those allegedly involved.
SCHOOLS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE PLACES OF LEARNING NOT FIGHTING ARENAS.
Parents, teachers and learners are being urged to take bullying and violence seriously and report incidents immediately.
If you witness a learner being attacked:
Don’t encourage the violence.
Don’t laugh or cheer.
Don’t share the footage.
Get help. Report it. Protect the victim.
A child’s worst moment should never become someone else’s entertainment.
