MilisaD Today we celebrate heritage day ( 24th September 2025). South African Heritage Day is celebrated annually . The day encourages all South Africans to reflect on , honor, and celebrate their ancestors and the diverse cultural traditions that contribute to the nation’s fabric.
Heritage day also creates unity, reconciliation, social cohesion and it allows people from different backgrounds to connect over their shared South African identity.
The Heritage day evolved from ” Shaka Day” a regional holiday honoring King Shaka Zulu, into a national celebration of South Africa’s diverse cultural heritage after the end of apartheid in 1995.
