The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in the Free State have staged a protest outside the medical practice of Dr. Koos Troskie in Kroonstad, following allegations that his grandson shot and killed a man and buried him in a shallow grave on their family farm.

Police confirmed that they discovered the decomposed body of an unidentified man last month on farmland located along the road between Kroonstad and Welkom. A case of murder and defeating the ends of justice has been opened, though no official arrests have yet been announced.
During a tense exchange captured on video, EFF Free State deputy chairperson Thomas Macingwane directly confronted Dr. Troskie outside his practice. In the exchange, Dr. Troskie admitted to burying the deceased man instead of reporting the incident to the police, saying:

“Yes, I know I did a wrong thing. I should have called the police… If I didn’t bury him immediately, the jackals would have eaten him.”
EFF members, holding placards and chanting outside the surgery, accused Dr. Troskie and his grandson of being complicit in the killing. The party has demanded swift police action and has threatened to intensify demonstrations if justice is not served.
The Free State police investigation is ongoing, with authorities expected to provide further updates once forensic tests are completed and the identity of the victim is confirmed.
