Hyundai Automotive South Africa is recalling 253 Tucson NX4 vehicles sold across South Africa in 2025 after a potential problem was identified with their side-impact airbag sensors.
The National Consumer Commission (NCC) announced the recall, warning that some vehicles may have been fitted with sensors that do not meet the correct specifications.
Side-impact airbag sensors help detect a collision and trigger the appropriate airbag response. If a sensor does not meet the required specifications, it could affect the vehicle’s safety system.
What Must Hyundai Tucson Owners Do?
Owners of potentially affected Hyundai Tucson NX4 vehicles are urged to contact an authorised Hyundai dealership and arrange an inspection.
The inspection will establish whether the vehicle has the correct side-impact airbag sensor installed. If corrective work is required, it will be carried out free of charge.
Motorists should contact Hyundai before visiting a dealership to confirm whether their vehicle is affected and arrange an appointment.
The recall is intended to ensure that affected vehicles meet the required safety specifications. Owners are encouraged not to ignore the notice, as airbags are an important part of a vehicle’s protection system during a collision.
The National Consumer Commission has urged affected consumers to follow the recall instructions and have their vehicles checked.
Hyundai Tucson owners who bought their vehicles in 2025 should contact an authorised dealership to establish whether their vehicle falls under the recall.
