The City of Johannesburg’s Environment and Infrastructure Services MMC, Cllr Jack Sekwaila, has spearheaded a high-impact service delivery operation in Ivory Park, Region A, as part of efforts to restore dignity to communities through visible and practical action.
The operation, carried out on 9 September 2025, brought together several municipal entities, including the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA), City Power, Johannesburg Water, and Pikitup, alongside MMC for Community Development Cllr Tebogo Nkokou.

Tackling pressing service delivery issues
The campaign focused on immediate interventions such as:
- Repairing potholes and improving road infrastructure
- Fixing faulty streetlights
- Unblocking water infrastructure
- Clearing refuse and improving waste collection
- Enforcing municipal by-laws through visible law enforcement
Leadership appeal for cooperation
Addressing residents, MMC Sekwaila urged communities to engage constructively rather than disrupting service delivery when grievances arise.
“We are going back to basics and focusing on delivering the quality services our residents deserve. This operation is not just about fixing potholes or repairing streetlights; it is about restoring confidence and demonstrating that the concerns of our communities are being heard and addressed,” Sekwaila said.

He further emphasized that the City’s leadership remains committed to turning Johannesburg around, one region at a time.
Part of a broader City-wide campaign
The Ivory Park intervention is one of several targeted, on-the-ground service delivery drives being rolled out across Johannesburg. These operations are designed to improve infrastructure, enhance safety, and strengthen community confidence in municipal services.
