Durban, South Africa – The popular Wet ‘n Wild water park at uShaka Marine World is officially reopening this week after being temporarily closed due to flood damage that affected key technical infrastructure.
Management confirmed that the closure followed a burst pipe incident that caused flooding inside parts of the park, damaging critical equipment and forcing the attraction to suspend operations while repairs were carried out.
Temporary Closure After Infrastructure Damage
Wet ‘n Wild, one of Durban’s most popular family attractions, was forced to shut its gates earlier after the pipe burst caused water to flood areas containing important operational systems.
The incident affected technical infrastructure needed to safely operate rides and water attractions, prompting park management to prioritise repairs and safety checks before allowing visitors back.

uShaka Marine World said teams worked quickly to restore damaged systems and ensure that the park meets safety and operational standards before reopening.
Official Reopening Date Confirmed
In a social media announcement, uShaka Marine World confirmed that the water park will reopen to visitors on Thursday, 5 March 2026.
According to the park:
“Exciting Announcement! Wet n’ Wild will reopen on Thursday, March 5, 2026! Combo tickets and access to uShaka Kids World’s Splish Splash Sprinkler Island are also available.”
Visitors returning to the park will once again be able to enjoy a range of water slides, wave pools, and splash attractions, as well as family-friendly facilities designed for younger children.
One of Durban’s Top Tourist Attractions
Wet ‘n Wild forms part of the larger uShaka Marine World complex, which includes an aquarium, entertainment areas, restaurants and retail spaces.
Since opening in 2004, uShaka Marine World has become one of South Africa’s most visited marine theme parks, drawing both local visitors and international tourists to Durban’s beachfront.
The Wet ‘n Wild section of the park is especially popular during holiday seasons and warm summer months, offering high-energy slides, lazy rivers and family splash zones.
Tourism Boost for Durban
The reopening is expected to bring renewed foot traffic to Durban’s beachfront tourism district, which relies heavily on attractions like uShaka Marine World to draw visitors.
Local tourism officials have previously highlighted the role of the park in supporting the city’s tourism economy, especially during school holidays and long weekends.
With repairs now complete and safety systems restored, visitors can once again experience one of Durban’s most loved water attractions.
