Bloemfontein, 31 August 2025 – A devastating head-on collision on the R30 near Be Human has claimed the lives of three people, prompting an intensive multi-agency emergency response.
According to emergency service provider VRMED, paramedics were dispatched to the scene where two vehicles had collided head-on. Despite swift intervention, three occupants were declared dead on arrival.

Mangaung Fire and Rescue played a critical role in the extrication process, working tirelessly to free victims from the wreckage. The incident also saw coordinated support from LifeEMS and ER24, underscoring the importance of collaboration among emergency responders in major road incidents.
In a statement, VRMED expressed condolences:
“Our deepest sympathies are extended to the families affected by this tragic accident.”
The cause of the collision remains under investigation by local authorities.
This incident once again highlights the urgent need for road safety vigilance. According to the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC), head-on collisions are among the deadliest types of crashes on South African roads, often resulting in high fatality rates due to the force of impact.
