A coordinated law enforcement operation in the Namakwa District has led to several arrests and the seizure of drugs and stolen property worth over R22 000, according to a statement from Arrive Alive.
The operation, conducted between 27 and 29 August 2025, was led by the Springbok Public Order Police (POPS) and the Stock Theft and Endangered Species Unit, under the command of Brigadier Schalk Andrews, Namakwa District Commissioner.

A Three-Day Crackdown
- Wednesday, 27 August: Police in Steinkopf arrested a 21-year-old male after he was found in possession of mandrax tablets and tik.
- Thursday, 28 August: In Bergsig, a 43-year-old man was taken into custody for dealing in drugs and possessing suspected stolen property.
- Friday, 29 August: Two men, aged 40 and 42, were arrested in the Springbok area with tik and cash believed to be linked to drug trafficking.
Valuables Seized
During the operation, officers recovered narcotics and suspected stolen copper cables with a combined estimated value of R22 671.

Court Proceedings
All suspects are expected to appear in court shortly, facing charges under the Drugs and Drug Trafficking Act.
Commitment to Safer Communities
Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to fighting drug-related crime across the Namakwa District. Brigadier Andrews praised the efforts of the multidisciplinary team, noting that the operation reflects the police’s determination to disrupt criminal networks and remove drugs from local communities.
