Deputy President Shipokosa Paulus Mashatile will on Friday, 5 September 2025, deliver a virtual keynote address at the National Economic Development and Labour Council (NEDLAC) 30th Annual Summit. The event will take place at the NH Johannesburg Sandton Hotel in Gauteng (formerly The Hilton Hotel).
A Milestone Gathering
Marking three decades of engagement, the Annual NEDLAC Summit serves as a pivotal platform where organised business, labour, community structures, government, and other stakeholders come together to deliberate on South Africa’s pressing socio-economic challenges.

This year’s theme, “Advancing solidarity, equality and sustainability in the economy and the labour market”, aligns closely with South Africa’s G20 Presidency priorities.
Key Issues on the Agenda
The Summit will highlight achievements and challenges in three major focus areas:
- Worker solidarity through advances in collective bargaining, dispute resolution, and unity-building — especially including non-standard employees.
- Advancement of equality, with an emphasis on gender and race in the workplace and broader society.
- Sustainability and climate transition, exploring just-transition strategies from the perspective of workers and workplaces.
In addition to in-person participation, the Summit will be broadcast digitally across social media platforms, allowing invitees and members of the public to follow the proceedings.
