American tennis star Amanda Anisimova has made a powerful start against world No. 1 Iga Swiatek, taking the opening set 6-4 in their much-anticipated clash.
Anisimova’s aggressive returning proved decisive, putting Swiatek under pressure early and refusing to let the top seed settle into her rhythm. At 5-4, the 23-year-old American forced two set points with a flurry of clean winners, including a pinpoint return that clipped the line.

Swiatek managed to save one with a body serve, but Anisimova capitalised in the very next rally, out-hitting the Pole from the baseline. Swiatek’s forehand drifted long, sealing the set for Anisimova in what many are calling one of the strongest performances of her career so far.
With the match still in its early stages, all eyes are now on whether Anisimova can maintain her intensity and secure a statement victory over the reigning champion.
