Police have arrested another suspected drug mule at OR Tambo International Airport, seizing about 2kg of suspected cocaine worth more than R800,000.
The 45-year-old man was allegedly travelling to Hong Kong when he was arrested on Monday following an intelligence-driven operation.
Police reportedly searched his luggage and discovered the suspected cocaine.
The arrest comes just four days after another suspected drug mule was intercepted at the airport, with both suspects allegedly bound for Hong Kong.
Authorities say the arrests form part of ongoing efforts to disrupt international drug-trafficking networks operating through South Africa’s major ports of entry.
The latest seizure highlights the continued use of South African airports as potential transit points for international drug trafficking, while law enforcement agencies continue intelligence-led operations to identify and arrest suspected couriers.
