Authorities say the altercation began after a collision, but quickly spiralled into a shootout—highlighting ongoing concerns around aggressive driving behaviour and access to firearms in South Africa.
In the aftermath, videos showing distressed children and emergency responders circulated widely on social media. Officials and community members have urged the public to refrain from sharing graphic content, warning that it can retraumatise victims’ families and those affected by the tragedy.
