Durban – A police operation in Westville on Monday, 1 September 2025, led to the arrest of 10 foreign nationals working as delivery motorbike riders without valid documentation to be in South Africa.
The Durban Metro Police Service (DMPS) STRIKE team confirmed the arrests, saying the operation was part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on illegal activities and ensure compliance with immigration and labour laws.

During the arrests, one of the suspects, a Malawian national, allegedly attempted to bribe an officer with R500 in an effort to avoid detention. He was immediately taken into custody and now faces an additional charge of attempted bribery.
Metro Police said the arrests underscore their commitment to maintaining the rule of law and community safety.
“Illegal activities undermine both safety and economic stability. We remain resolute in upholding the law and protecting the integrity of our communities,” the DMPS said in a statement.
